Treatment Options

Treatment Options are dependent upon the Phase or Level of the injury.

Acute Phase
Treatment plans are intiated after full history and diagnostic testing including: Electromyography (EMG), X-Ray, MRI, CT scan; and establishing a specific diagnosis through a comprehensive evaluation. Treatment options may include mobilization, manual therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic exercise, braces/prophylatics, medication and/or specialized injections. The "acute" phase can last up to 1 week.

Recovery Phase
After the acute phase, the body begins the "Recovery Phase." The goal of this phase is to improve function while decreasing symptoms. Restoring function is not limited to getting back to work, athletic and leisure activities. Fucntion is restored through specific exercises that rebuild the body tissues and retrain movement. Flexibility and strength exercises are utilized to return the body to the pre-injury status. Symptom reduction is achieved through Physical Therapy and medications. As symptoms are reduced, more function is achieved and vice versa.

Maintenance Phase
Total body fitness programs are utilized to maintain body mechanics and increase endurance after the acute symptoms have resolved and the recovery phase is complete. In order prevent further injury, maintenance programs must be adhered and progressed.
