Stem Cell Therapy for Joint Pain

As we age, our bodies diminish in their ability to repair. This often results in chronic pain and more time required for healing. Skilled physician Jeff Pierce, DO at Michigan Sports & Spine Center can help restore the youthful you through stem cell therapy. To improve your life and get rid of pain today, call or book an appointment online.

What is stem cell therapy?

Stem cells are the body’s most potent cells, with the capability of helping you live longer and healthier. Because of this, they are used in stem cell therapy to help regenerate damaged tissue, heal injuries, and potentially treat dozens of disorders.

If you have been experiencing joint pains, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, or cardiovascular disease, stem cell therapy can help you by:

  • Increasing collagen
  • Generating new blood vessel tissue
  • Increase range of motion and flexibility
  • Reduce chronic pain
  • Speed up the length of time to heal

These benefits can greatly improve your quality of life by rejuvenating your body from the inside out. By fighting disease through its anti-aging properties it helps replenish your vital tissues in order to have a healthier life.

How does stem cell therapy work?

We use a local anesthetic around the injection area to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Following this, we remove some of your adipose tissue, bone marrow, or blood as these are the places where stem cells are thriving. We place the adipose tissue, bone marrow or blood in a centrifuge in order to separate and concentrate the stem cells.

The stem cells collected are injected back into the body at the desired area. The stem cells go to work regenerating the affected and painful area allowing the growth factor proteins to promote healing.

What can I expect after stem cell therapy?

This treatment is relatively fast, lasting around 45 minutes. We recommend resting for one or two days prior to engaging in your low-impact activities. In addition, no anti-inflammatory medications should be taken within the first six weeks. You can expect to have some inflammation at the injection site, but this should subside naturally as your skin heals.

Generally, most people see significant improvements to how they were before between six and 10 weeks.

Why Stem Cell Therapy?

If you are tired of the “band-aid” treatments like cortisone injections and pills that only mask the pain but don’t fix the problem, and if you don’t like the risk and downtime associated with your surgical options, then rehabilitative medicine may be the answer for you.  Every year, more and more patients are choosing to fix their chronic orthopedic condition with a rehabilitative medicine procedure rather than surgery – because it works!
